Higher Learning Commission Accreditation
UAMS Site Visit Announcement
On April 17-18 a four-member panel from the Higher Learning Commission visited the campus and held 17 meetings, including three open forums, a student-only forum, and focused meeting in which more than 450 faculty, staff, students and administrators participated.
The open forums focused on various areas of UAMS’ Assurance Statement, including mission, compliance and integrity, teaching and learning, resources and institutional priorities. Other Focus Topic meetings centered on areas of University operations such as Diversity, Assessment, Faculty and Staff Development, and Planning.
UAMS is required to have HLC accreditation in order to allow credits and degrees to be transferred from other accredited higher education institutions and to ensure professional licensure for UAMS graduates. Accreditation is also required before students can receive federal financial aid.
